I regularly survey my students.

I set out to establish and foster a classroom culture that fosters growth mindset, one in which behaviors I want them to exercise in their own academic and personal endeavors are modeled.  Because I openly acknowledge that there is always room for improvement in my practice, I trust my students to provide honest, thoughtful feedback on what they love about my classes and what they believe could use some tweaking.  When they recognize that I've responded to their opinions by actually making changes in the classroom, they feel valued and a relationship of mutual trust and respect is deepened.

Some professional development is not practical.
